HYBE Put LE SSERAFIM, ILLIT and KATSEYE on One Track and Called It 'Iconic By Mistake'
three girl groups, one joint digital single — video june 11, song june 12. nothing about assembling that lineup was an accident, but sure. 'by mistake.'
HYBE looked at three of its biggest girl groups, put them on ONE song, and titled it 'Iconic By Mistake.' the humility is fake and we all know it. LE SSERAFIM, ILLIT and KATSEYE share the credit — the video landed 11 a.m. ET on june 11, with the single following at midnight on the 12th.
the rollout was, respectfully, deranged in the best way. KATSEYE started it on instagram on june 7 with a 20-second clip: baroque piano, a screen buried under white feathers, then a grinding industrial noise that shakes them loose to reveal the title written in cursive made of cartoon teeth, skulls, bones and tombstones. a second teaser zoomed in far enough to find a googly-eyed bird with all three group names spread across its wings. i cannot stress enough that this was for a pop single.
the 30-second video preview kept the fever going — the women on what reads as a spaceship, a golden tooth jammed into an electrical outlet, a windstorm, a genuinely sinister trip to the dentist and a mouth full of glitter. dental horror as a visual concept. sure! why not! it's june!
no producer or writer credits were out at press time, which only made the speculation worse. three groups pulled from across HYBE's roster — two korean, one assembled globally — on a one-off nobody saw coming.
context on where everyone was at: LE SSERAFIM dropped their second studio album in may behind 'Boompala' and 'Celebration,' KATSEYE have a five-song EP due august 14 with 'Pinky Up' already out, and ILLIT released 'It's Me' earlier this year. everyone was mid-era. they did it anyway.
iconic on purpose. the title is a LIE and it's my favorite thing about it.

MAMAMOO’s Hwasa joined Burberry’s new summer campaign celebrating the brand’s iconic check bags, alongside MEOVV’s Narin. luxury girlies, assemble.
burberry rolled out its summer 2026 House Check campaign on july 11 and put hwasa at the front of it, which is the single most obvious casting decision of the season. the woman has treated luxury nonchalance as a personality trait for years. the check print finally caught up to her.
she's joined by MEOVV's narin, and the whole thing was shot on seoul streets as staged paparazzi-style vignettes — caught mid-stride, 'oh, you got a photo of me?' energy. a heritage house doing a bit this online is genuinely funny, and it lands.
the actual merchandise, because some of you already opened a new tab: House Check bags in coated cotton canvas with leather trim, the curved Primrose, a zipped tote, compact vanity bags, drawstring styles, a hand-crocheted raffia Margate tote and a quilted nylon Horseshoe backpack, all wearing that Knight hardware. plus polos and tanks with check trim, and outerwear in the Waterloo trench and the Hayfield Harrington.
the official pitch is versatility and self-expression, which is corporate for 'wear it however you want, just wear it.' hwasa carrying a bag like it personally owes her money is, frankly, the most persuasive argument that line has ever had.
heritage house, loudest possible muse. the campaign is checking every box. literally.
