Kihyun Made a Whole Solo Mini With Zero Features Because His Voice Is the Entire Point
'BORDERLINE' landed july 7 with seven tracks, a rock-leaning title in 'So Good,' and not one guest artist. the man booked himself and only himself. correct call.
there is no featured artist on 'BORDERLINE.' not one. in a year where every other release is a three-name credit and a strategic playlist grab, MONSTA X's kihyun put out a full solo mini on july 7 and refused to hand over a single bar of it. the audacity IS the product.
'So Good' leads, and it's built on guitars rather than a drop — a rock-leaning thing that mostly exists as a delivery system for vocal control. it's technically demanding on purpose. he wrote himself a hard exam and then sat it in public.
seven tracks total: 'So Good,' 'Borderline,' 'Stealin' Air,' 'Domino,' 'Lazy Day,' 'Late Night Drive' and 'Howling.' a real spread of tempos, which is what happens when there's no guest verse to hide behind and twenty-odd minutes to fill.
thematically he's parked on the line between not knowing and going anyway — the record is about picking your own instincts over whatever the correct answer was supposed to be. his first EP, 'YOUTH,' looked backwards at what being young felt like. this one is stubbornly about right now.
MONBEBEs, he did that alone on purpose. play it loud, then play it again on headphones so you catch what he was actually flexing.

the group's resident dance machine went solo and turned the entire mv into one long flex
dino basically said 'you like it? good.' and then proceeded to body an entire music video by himself. 'LIKE IT' is out and the man is DANCING dancing.
the facts: it's a solo release from seventeen's maknae, it dropped august 24 at 6pm KST, and the mv is a straight-up showcase for the footwork he's been quietly hoarding since debut.
we always knew he could move — he's dino — but there's something a little unhinged about the youngest just deciding to out-perform everyone on his own solo. the confidence is EARNED, though.
new comfort choreo unlocked. i'll be rewatching until i can do exactly zero percent of it.
