Fan Annotations (2)
“Bangtan-i waseo” 방탄이 왔어
"방탄이 왔어" means "Bangtan has arrived" — Bangtan (방탄, "bulletproof") is the Korean short form of BTS's name, so it's a literal arrival announcement at the song's climax. "ON" is the second single from Map of the Soul: 7 (released February 21, 2020) and debuted at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100, the highest-charting song by a Korean group at the time (Wikipedia). BTS performed it in the main concourse of Grand Central Terminal for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, which aired February 24, 2020 (Wikipedia).

“i gotongmajeo nae eumakiya” 이 고통마저 내 음악이야
"이 고통마저 내 음악이야" means "even this pain is my music" — 마저 (majeo) adds the sense of "even/including," so the line pulls suffering itself into the work rather than hiding it. It's the philosophical core of "ON," turning struggle into fuel. The song was co-written by members RM, Suga and J-Hope along with producer Pdogg (Wikipedia), and the theme fits Map of the Soul: 7, an album built around confronting one's inner self.
